For the Love of Dogs 🐶 🐕 🐩 A photoshoot w/ Ollie and Bark Social

Sometimes I get extremely lucky.

When Ollie pet food company #Ollie contacted me to do a shoot at Bark Social Bethesda #bark_social_bethesda I was ELATED.

I was elated because 1) I'm a freak for dogs as you probably know, 2) I love Bark Social's concept and reality, 3) I want to help encourage more people to find their way to Bark Social, 4) I'm a freak for dogs again, and 5) getting paid to do what feels and is actually just me being me is the dream.

I was also surprised to get a request to photograph doggies since I haven't marketed myself as a dog photographer but I've been meaning to add it to my list of services. The recruiter found me on LinkedIn, she told me. She searched "Maryland Photographer" and I showed up. (Thank you #LinkedIn search tool and algorithm!) Seeing my documentary work led Crystal to book me. I was stoked because this opportunity would give me a chance to mix my documentary style with pet and people portraits.

When I met Andy, Jocelyn and Natalie, the Ollie team set up at Bark "Sosh" (my friend Kelly and I refer to it as that because #millennials are always shortening words), I felt very welcomed and was already zinging with joy from all the dog varietals curiously sniffing each other and prancing about in their newfound independence.

I guided my pup Zuri inside the gates with me. She rocked her rainbow Bark Social collar and got busy sniffing for treats as soon as I unleashed her into a swarm of warm summer dogs. So Zuri got to hang out with me/I got to hang out with Zuri for the shoot. (You'll see how my little cow baby basically photo-bombed every picture...But she's adorable so it's fine.)

The Ollie folks were super nice and welcoming and, after giving my pup Zuri a sample which she wolfed down like she hadn't eaten all year, they showed me around and I got to "work." (I'm putting work in quotes because when you love what you're doing and getting paid for it, it really feels like they're paying me to be myself...;)

So, here are some photos from Ollie pet food's promotion day at Bark Social Bethesda. Check out OLLIE and BARK SOCIAL for yourself and your pup or future pup (if he/she is still conceptual and not curled up next to you on the couch like my little dream is.)
